Hemlockfest 2017 Art & Craft Booth Information

HemlockFest is now accepting art and craft booth applications for 2017. Booth spaces for new participants are extremely limited. The categories of jewelry and painting are already full. If you are interested in applying please send an email with at least three photographs plus a detailed description of all work to hemlockfestart100@gmail.com, and this will begin your application process.  Hemlockfest is seeking handmade or homegrown items by the person who sells it.  All work is juried.

The Cause

HemlockFest is one of the largest grassroots efforts for SAVING THE HEMLOCK TREES!vendors (10) A group of dedicated volunteers organize and manage the festival; we are the Lumpkin Coalition, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization supporting quality of life issues in North Georgia.

Saving the Hemlocks could have a significant impact on our environment.  The Hemlocks are beautiful evergreen trees that not only help purify our rivers and streams and maintain water temperatures, but also provide shelter and food for birds and other animals.  We are honored that you will be a part of this GREAT CAUSE!!  Any donation you give will go toward SAVING THE HEMLOCKS.

Our History

This is our 13th annual HemlockFest and our 12th year hosting vendors.  We began as a music festival and fund-raiser in 2005 at Three Sisters’ Vineyard.  The following year we moved to Starbridge Sanctuary, a privately owned property close to Dahlonega and Georgia 400, in order to expand the festival and allow for camping.  The event offers music, art, educational workshops, food, canoeing, camping, walking trails, and more in a comfortable and safe atmosphere for all ages and walks of life.

 When

The first FULL WEEKEND in November, 2017.  Gates open at 2:00 p.m. on Friday and the festival ends at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Your Cost

The cost for a craft booth for 2017 is $50 for the first artist and an additional $25 for a second artist.  Limit 2 artists per booth.  A donation of 10% of your proceeds will be requested at the end of the festival. The artist who makes the items must be present to sell them.

 Your Arrival/Departure

You and one helper are welcome to ARRIVE at the festival grounds on Thursday or Friday  and DEPART on Sunday or Monday.  It is important that your car is unpacked and moved to the parking area by noon on Friday. Cars will not be allowed to enter the festival grounds after noon on Friday.

Plan to stay through the entire festival until 3:00 p.m. Sunday for our Closing Ceremony — no early breakdown without prior agreement.  If you are unable to make it by Friday morning, we will not be able to host you as a vendor due to limited vehicle operation on the festival grounds.

Helper

You may bring ONE helper per BOOTH. No Exceptions.

Entry and Set-Up

To gain entry to the festival, you and your helper will need to sign in & pick up “vendor wrist-bands” as you pass through the main entrance.  These will serve as your pass into the festival, and you will need to wear them all weekend. After signing in, go directly to the vendor area and begin your set-up. Cars will not be allowed to enter the festival grounds after NOON on Friday – please arrive early.

The festival grounds are small, and the vendor area will be indicated with signage.   Please only choose YOUR designated sites which match your booth number. Spaces will be marked off.  You will have an assigned space.

 Hours of Operationvendors (33)

PLEASE PLAN TO OPEN AT 3:00 P.M. ON FRIDAY AND CLOSE NO EARLIER THAN 3:00 P.M. ON SUNDAY.  Please open at a reasonable hour each morning, 9:00 or 10:00 a.m.  This is very important to the “festive” feel of our festival.  Also remain open until 5:00 p.m. or later each evening.  Nighttime lighting is almost exclusively by tikki torches and propane lighting. Feel free to bring your own torches for lighting purposes. Please NO GENERATORS for Lighting purposes. Propane Lamps do wonders for lighting.

Where to Stay

Primitive camping is available ALL weekend at Starbridge. You may either set up a tent in people (14)an appointed area close to your booth or sleep in your booth.  You may set up a tent behind your booth, if you are not set up on a ground level near the stage or you are not going to be surrounded on more than 2 sides by booths. If you have questions, please ask before setting up a tent. Someone will ask you to move your tent if you are in a designated booth or festival area.  Car camping is very limited and available in specified areas only (closest parking lot to the main grounds).  Hotels, motels, & B&B’s are within a 10-20 minute drive from the venue; to find these, please search on-line “Dahlonega accommodations.”

We will have security operating 24 hours every day at the festival, but we do not accept responsibility for any of your belongings.  Please plan accordingly.
