Family and Kids

Play, learn, laugh, dance and create wonderful memories in a beautiful setting as you participate in a variety of fun and educational activities with your kids, family and friends at HemlockFest. In its seventeenth year, the festival strives not only to entertain but to educate people of every age about the crisis affecting the hemlock trees of North Georgia.

KID’S NATURE VILLAGE
HemlockFest provides a unique opportunity for playful and exploratory time in a natural setting through the Kid’s Nature Village, which is modeled from the Dimensions Educational Research Foundation’s Nature Explore Classroom. In this space, families can:

  • IMAGINE – use colorful tree scarves to create tree house rooms

  • CREATE – make unique crafts from natural objects
  • BUILD – stack tree blocks of all shapes and sizes
  • JUMP – leap between giant jump stumps
  • PERFORM – play natural bamboo instruments with friends
  • PLANT – make pots from newspaper and plant hemlock saplings
  • EXPLORE – discover the woods, streams, lake and trails
  • PLAY – hula-hoop, swing on the swingset, and dance to live music
  • DIG – play in the sand

SO MUCH TO DO!
Throughout the three days, camping, story-telling, puppets, group games, educational exhibits, yummy food, fire dancers and beautiful music round out the family experience.

FAMILY CAMPING
A special, hike-in, quiet camping area is available for families.

INFANT CARE
HemlockFest provides an infant care tent with rocking chair and changing table for a comfortable, distraction-free space at the main field for feeding and changing little ones.

FREE FOR KIDS!
Children 15 and under are admitted free with a supervising adult ticket holder. HemlockFest does not offer childcare services. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
